Helen Corona

Trustee

Helen S. Corona is a first-generation Latina with roots in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, raised in the Bergen Lafayette section of Jersey City. She believes in giving back to her community. Growing up Helen has provided translation services to the Spanish speaking community in the business and educational spaces, she continues to support parents navigating special education services. Her love of education and advocacy led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a Master's in Special Education and Early Childhood Education from New Jersey City University.

Over the last 15 years, she led special education classrooms and parent engagement in New Jersey. As an educator, she developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education and the untapped potential of integration of technology in the classroom as a tool to enhance learning. She has actively contributed to this integration by organizing STEM workshops, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and diversity in educational technology. Currently Helen sits as Education Ambassador for T-Mobile, where she collaborates with education professionals in providing advanced technological solutions for the K-12 setting.

Outside of work, she is an advocate for community building, embodying the values of giving back and active citizenship. Helen along with her family firmly believe in the power of collective efforts, and sponsored teams for national events to bring awareness to Diabetes Type 1 (JDRF) and pediatric cancer (Alex's Lemonade Stand). These experiences have fueled her commitment to making a positive impact on both an individual and community level sharing these experiences with her children Eleniz, Sophia, and Giuliana.

Helen is excited to join Team Wilderness and for the opportunity to merge her passion for education along with love for hiking and the arts.
